Pilgrim Radicals Here 60 Years Earlier

This picture shows Anne Askew from Lincolnshire being executed with three other men in 1546. I was excited to discover one of the three was John Lassells/Lascelles, who turned out to be from Gateford, Notts. With a little more digging I now find that they were from Sturton and owned the manor there from 1540.

This is a brilliant discovery because of the significance of Sturton in Pilgrim history – it shows religious radicalism there 60 years earlier!
